Applicants wanted who are compassionate, patient, and dependable.  18+.  Preferably experienced in providing in-home care; to work for a young man who is severely, multiply-disabled; uses a wheelchair for mobility and is total care for transferring, positioning, showering (accessible bathroom/shower), and personal care.  Electric Hoyer lift available and will train if necessary.  He needs assistance with meal preparation but can drink and feed himself with little assist, set-up and oversight.

He has complex communication needs and is nonverbal.  He has a Dynavox that can be used by touch screen/very basic.  The usual mode of communication is eye-glance; a choice of real objects.  He also uses pictures of real objects/symbols.    

He's very sociable and likes music, movies, being read to; being outside in good weather, and being a part of his community.  This is an excellent opportunity for those who are going into Speech Language Pathology, Physical & Occupational Therapies, Special Education, and/or wish to expand on their knowledge and capabilities.

Duties include but are not limited to, accompanying him out into the community whether to day programs, specialist appointments, or other events, such as restaurants, shopping, parks, festivals, sporting events, etc.  A complete list of duties will be available upon interview.

Rate of pay is $17.31/hour.  Hours currently available are  7a-3p., M-F and 3p-11p, T & Th.  Weekends fully open, morning and/or afternoon shifts, either part-time or full-time.   

If the candidate is not CPR/First Aid certified, paid training is provided, including, as well as dispensing medications.  There are additional certifications that can be completed online. 

Everyone in his home is fully vaccinated and he prefers applicants who are as well.  Non-smokers only.  Applicants must agree to a background check and should expect to submit references.
