Job Title: Health and Safety Manager
Job Description
A top electrical contractor in California has been awarded a mega-sized project in Salinas, CA. The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment. The role involves promoting continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting in the development and implementation of safety programs. The Health & Safety Manager will work closely with project-level functional leads to integrate and address applicable safety and health requirements.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with management and customers to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
Provide assistance to project and construction management in addressing safety/health issues during project execution.
Conduct safety assessments and inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with safety/health requirements, including contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and the project’s Environmental, Safety & Health (EH&S) plan.
Assist management in investigating injuries, motor vehicle accidents, spills, discharges, theft, vandalism, and property damages, and develop reports including root cause analysis.
Conduct safety and compliance training for supervisors and field employees.
Review current safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.
Prepare reports to document audits and inspections, Method of Procedure (MOP), and critical activity plans.
Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
Stop operations and activities that expose staff or equipment to dangerous conditions.
Share environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
3+ years of safety experience in a construction setting.
Working knowledge of injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction techniques.
Must possess OSHA 30 construction certificate.
Must possess STSC or higher safety certification or be attainable within 1 year.
Knowledge of 29 CFR and CCR Title 8 regulations as applied to construction and general industry.
First Aid, CPR & AED certifications, and willingness to lead in an emergency event.
Previous electrical system installation experience (solar installation experience is a plus).
Competent Person: Electrical safety NFPA 70E, Excavation, Fall protection, and Confined space.
Self-driven and willing to work alone or as part of a team on assigned tasks and initiatives.
Ability to work split shifts, overtime, weekends, and travel as needed.
Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, supervisory, and leadership skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $67.31
