What you will do

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a unique technical background in software engineering, IIOT and AI. As Volvo aims go beyond Industry 4.0 and integrate AI systems in the production line to improve our operational efficiency, your primary role will be to work directly with various business teams in the Roanoke Valley truck factory, identify pain points and areas for optimization, design IIOT and AI based solutions and work as a team member to successfully deliver reliable and secure systems that meet Volvo guidelines and policies. Expert level knowledge of Thingworx/Kepware IIOT platform and Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing and AI solutions are required.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain IIOT, Digital Twin, and AI solutions in the factory based on PTC Thingworx and Kepware systems and Microsoft Azure technologies

• Design, develop, and implement high-quality, scalable, and reusable software components using appropriate programming languages and technologies

• Collaborate with application delivery teams (developers, architects, testers) to ensure software components meet functional and non-functional requirements

• Implement best practices in coding, documentation, and version control to maintain high standards of software quality and reliability

• Manage the lifecycle of software components from inception through deployment and maintenance

• Plan and coordinate component releases, including versioning, dependency management, and compatibility testing

• Monitor and analyze component performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations as needed

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software components, including technical specifications, APIs, and usage guidelines

• Practical experience in Thingworx using JavaScript programming language and CSS stylings

• Practical experience in OPC-UA standard and PLC/device communications with PTC Kepware

• Knowledge of Digital Twin principals and technologies

• Practical experience in Azure Cloud Services and ML Studio

• Practical experience in AI, including neural networks and computer vision used for object detection and classification, and predictive analytics utilizing historical and real time data

• Expert level Python programming skills for AI/ML and other data science/engineering use cases

• Experience in Java and/or .NET

• Experience in Power BI for data analytics and visualizations

• Experience with Power Platform to develop and support business needs

• Strong skills in object-oriented design practices and functional programming

• Expert knowledge in creating and consuming secure HTTP REST API’s from various programming languages such as Python and JavaScript

• Experience in SQL Server, SQL queries, SharePoint, and other database and data storage technologies

• Experience working in VS Code, and Azure DevOps / Git Repo

• Basic experience in event driven design (IBM WMQ, MQTT, etc.) with ability learn and apply the practice in new or ongoing projects

• Knowledge of vision cameras and with various types of configuration options and connectivity standards such as (USB, POE, GigE, etc.)

• Experience in development, maintenance and support of projects and solutions.

• You can navigate with ease in a multi-cultural environment and actively cooperate with various stakeholders

• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, break them down into manageable tasks, and develop effective solutions using logical reasoning and creativity

• Proficiency in documenting code, APIs, and technical specifications.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and end-users

• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) to adapt to changing requirements, deliver software iteratively, and respond to feedback

• Willingness and ability to stay updated with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in software development to enhance skills and improve software components
