Roanoke College Library Senior Associate - Collections Access in Salem, Virginia

The Library Senior Associate - Collections Access will help to set the standard for delivering exceptional customer service to the Roanoke College community. Working collaboratively with staff, faculty and students the Library Senior Associate will facilitate access to Fintel Library and College Archives collections, assist with reference and research questions, and help maintain facility operations. The Library Senior Associate will perform circulation services, reserves, and stacks maintenance activities and enhance access to the College Archives through digitization of materials and fulfilment of requests for College Archives resources. This position will require working some evenings and weekends on a regularly scheduled basis. As part of the Fintel Library team, the Library Senior Associate - Collections Access will participate in the promotion of library services and resources and assessment of the quality of library services, user satisfaction, and academic success through a proactive and collaborative approach. Candidates should be enthusiastic, self-driven, analytical, and detail-oriented, possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities: •Circulates physical resources •Collects fines & fees •Resolves and/or refers users’ concerns and users’ library account issues •Creates and maintains circulation records for equipment and realia •Processes booking requests for physical audiovisual resources •Shifts and/or shelves collection resources •Coordinates Roanoke-Hollins courier service deliveries •Processes print & electronic course reserves •In the absence and/or at direction of the Access & Lending Services Librarian assists with facility operations and coordinates student assistant work and schedules. •Digitizes, enters and/or corrects metadata in the local repository for archives and special collections resources •Reformats finding aids for public access •Organizes, inventories, and rehouses archives collections •Assists in creating exhibits of and fulfilling requests for archives and special collections resources •Provides reference assistance to users, referring complex, subject-specific research questions to library liaisons Required: •Bachelor’s degree •Direct customer service experience •Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite •Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Desirable Qualifications & Experience •An undergraduate or graduate degree in history •Academic library experience •Experience with metadata and systems used to manage and describe archival collections •Experience with digitization of primary source collections About Roanoke College Roanoke College is a place where every student who works hard has the opportunity to succeed.
