Roanoke College Dining (Front of House) Attendant in Salem, Virginia

At Roanoke College, we are seeking a Dining Room Attendant for our all-you-care-to-eat dining center. It is a high-volume, 500+ seat dining space that features indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the upper-quad and is a gathering place and the primary dining space for our students, faculty, and staff. Our vision is to provide excellent hospitality experiences to all of our guests, while building a team that is responsive to the growing campus community. The Dining Room Attendant’s role is critical in helping with this vision. They are primarily responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, order and sanitation of the dining areas. The hours are 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 12:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on weekends, schedules subject to change based on operational needs. Primary Responsibilities: • Serves as a representative of Roanoke College, displaying courtesy, tact and respect in all interaction with our students, members of the RC community and with the general public. • Apply and enforce proper methods of safety and sanitation as instructed by the VDH and Dining Service management. • Responsible for stocking and rotation of utensils, napkins, condiments, breads, cereals, dessert items, etc.. • Responsible for cleanliness of the dining room including tables, chairs, floors, exposed areas and countertops. • Return unused items to proper storage facility. • Assists in serving food on line when necessary. • Assists in displaying desserts for service. • Follow policy and procedures as established by Dining Service Management. • Perform other duties as required. Physical Requirements: • Ability to see, speak and hear • Continuous standing with consistent walking • Ability to work for long periods of time, regularly 9 hours and longer on some days • Ability to reach, bend and stoop • Continuous use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds with assistance • Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment Our staff must display courtesy, tact and respect in all interactions with our students, members of the RC community, and with the general public. This full-time, 9 month position follows the academic calendar. Must be able to work every other weekend. COVID-19 vaccinations encouraged but not required. Uniforms and non-slip safety shoe allowance provided, along with a free meal on scheduled work days.
