TEKsystems Surgery Scheduler in Salem, Oregon

Description:

• Receives instructions from physicians, or designee, about which surgery or test is recommended.

• Verifies patient eligibility and benefits using an online application (i.e. Availity, NaviNet, OneHealthPort).

• Provides information about patient insurance coverage, and counsels patients pre-operatively regarding their potential

financial obligations.

• Discusses and prepares pre-operative instructions for the patient, as directed by physicians.

• After the patient confirms the election to proceed, works with front office to collect pre-surgical deposit. Offers payment plans

per practice policy.

• Schedules the surgical date, according to physician approved scheduling protocols; and sends the H&P to the Hospital or ASC

as directed.

• Schedules all pre-operative tests according to physician approved protocol.

• Obtains precertification/preauthorization from insurance companies prior to surgery for each procedure and test, using an

online application (or by payor published guidelines.)

• Coordinates all financial and clinical paperwork prior to surgery using physician approved forms and checklists and has

paperwork ready for the surgeon prior to the surgical date.

• Receives instructions from physicians, or designee, about which procedure recommended. MRIs, Imaging, Injections, EMGs

and other ancillary testing as directed.

• Responds to written and telephone inquiries from patients and insurance companies regarding planned surgery(s) and tests.

• Manages communication with the patient, physician, insurance company, hospital and ASC on an ongoing basis.

• Maintains and complies with confidentiality; HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines; and policy and procedures of the practice.

• Maintains ongoing competency and knowledge of EHR, PM, Word processing, Excel, and other office-based software systems

as it relates to job functions.

• Attends and participates in continuing education courses, or other types of training, as assigned.

• Additional duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator.

• Attend and participate in all staff meetings.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, telephone, customer service, organizing, and time management skills are

essential.

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

• Ability to read and write medical terminology.

• Ability to actively participate in team-oriented processes.

• Basic computer skills including familiarity with electronic medical records

• Supports and contributes to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and

procedures, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention and identifying and reporting potential

liabilities.
