Sr. Scheduler & Buyer Reports To: Manufacturing Manager Position Summary: Hunt Valve Company has been manufacturing shipboard valves for over 100 years, largely operating in the naval defense sector. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a Sr. Scheduler & Buyer to join our scheduling and purchasing team. This position would directly support the purchasing teams day-to-day activities to ensure work progresses on schedule and with high quality. Hunt offers a unique working environment that allows a hands-on individual to develop and grow as the company expands its footprint and maintains high performance as a trusted defense contractor. Responsibilities:

  • Work seamlessly with the Production Coordinator to release work to the floor and prevent delay in production and delivery.
  • Responsible for the input of variables into VISUAL and will work directly with the program managers to determine priority and assign said level of priority
  • Responsible for indicator codes, pull ahead codes, priority codes, category deep dives, releasing of work orders, printing and sign off work orders, pre pull and staging of WOs, scrap, and MRB process tagging, additions of hold and other router cards
  • Attend GEMBA T1 walks with the operations team and relay all notes and changes to the Admin for adjustments
  • Generating work orders based upon system demands
  • Pull and review demand for new work orders in the system.
  • Building work order traveler packets and coordinating appropriate sign offs
  • All information included in these packets require the applicant to review local data drives, locating and reading blueprints, and finding paperwork on throughout the shop floor
  • Working with planning and operations to support manufacturing schedules
  • Link and unlink work orders from various jobs as material needs change on the floor
  • Apply appropriate indicator codes to work orders to help prioritize manufacturing needs.
  • Process work orders on short notice and obtain the required sign offs to get them to the floor quickly.
  • Adjust work orders as material and machining changes occur to allow production to continue.
  • Utilize daily reports to locate and maintain work for machines on production floor and increase available work for assembly and monthly revenue.
  • Review material requirements and availability and adjust work order dates accordingly
  • Pull and review data to be able to update the required dates to drive flow down requirement due to schedule changes.
  • Communicate with each department for material demands and methods of machining for work orders to be released, ensuring adherence to the schedule.
  • Actively track all open work orders to address delays/ concerns on reaching promised delivery date.
  • Identify supplier best fit and quote a broad array of commodities
  • Strategically negotiate terms and pricing to align with company goals
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and other departments to ensure material highest quality
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers
  • Work directly with the Procurement Manager to oversee the purchasing department performance and provide support to vendor management specialists
  • Identifies and implements ideas for performance improvement, cost savings and supplier/supply strategy

Skills Desired:

Minimum of 5 years as a Planner/Scheduler/Buyer/Procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Maintaining a professional attitude through oral and written communication

Positive attitude and willingness to change tasks frequently

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or related business from an accredited institution preferred
