Massachusetts Employer Part-Time Van Driver in Salem, Massachusetts

Part-Time Van Driver Job Description: Seeking a qualified part-time, on call, driver for the Salem COA transportation department. The person in this position will be hired to safely transport seniors and/or those living with a disability to various destinations in Salem and nearby communities. Drivers report directly to the Transportation Coordinator. Duties include: \Safely and punctually transport seniors and those living with a disability in a 8-14 passenger van with automatic transmission. \Ability to follow a routing schedule and navigate roadways efficiently. \Interact with passengers in a courteous and respectful manner. \May be required to occasionally assist passengers with loading or unloading in cases of wheelchair or walker use. Occasional use of operating a lift is required. \Maintain viable communication and working relationships with other van drivers to maximize efficiency of transportation services. \Make safety checks of all operating equipment, including two-way radios and reporting any van malfunctions to the supervisor for repair. \Keep weekly records of mileage and gasoline use and a routine pre-check on the vehicle (including but not limited to tires, gas, oil, battery water, directional signals, seat belts). \Update dispatcher throughout shift as schedule is executed. \Report accidents or incidents, of any nature, relative to vans or passengers. \Observe changes in habits of passengers, report changes to supervisor. \The Driver will have a regular set schedule and may be asked on occasion to stay late or assist with evening functions. \Other duties as assigned. Requirements: \A valid Class II Massachusetts driver\'s license must be presented as well as evidence of a safe-driving record as generated by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. \A CORI check. \Patience and interest in serving the senior population and/or those living with a disability. \Willingness to take on-going training courses (at no cost), at the discretion of the Transportation Coordinator or Council on Aging Director. \Reasonable assistance helping a senior or those living with a disability on and off the van. Strongly preferred: \Demonstrable knowledge of Salem streets and neighborhoods. \Ability to adjust to last minute changes. \Bilingual (English/Spanish/Filipino). \Computer skills for training courses. Hourly wage: ? \$15.75 per hour starting pay.
