State of Massachusetts Deputy Title IX Coordinator in Salem, Massachusetts

The Deputy Title IX Coordinator is responsible for investigating incidents of alleged sex-based/gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation and sexual violence as defined in the University’s Equal Opportunity, Diversity and Affirmative Plan (“EO Plan”). Such alleged incidents may be by and between Salem State employees, students, and others who visit the campus community. Additionally, the Title IX Compliance Officer will assist the Title IX Coordinator in coordinating reports and cases of alleged incidents that fall under the scope of Title IX legislation. Other responsibilities will also include coordinating and leading trainings for Title IX investigators and hearing advisors. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in related field (degrees in psychology, counseling, social work and criminal justice are favored). * Three years of experience investigating complaints and/or grievance investigation and resolution. * Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding discrimination, harassment, retaliation and equal opportunity. Solid understanding of federal Title IX regulations, the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2012 (VAWA), the Clery Act, and other relevant statutes and guidance. * Demonstrated experience working in a multiracial and multiethnic environment with employees and students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. * Demonstrated ability to project neutrality and to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information. * Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of collegiality with different campus constituencies. Preferred Qualifications: * Master’s degree * A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in higher education in the areas of conduct or Title IX. * Knowledge of investigation techniques and best practices, and experience with one or more case management databases (e.g., Maxient) * Experience and training in Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, and Title VII. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops * Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Working Conditions: This is an on-site position with on-campus, in-person responsibilities in Salem, MA, with occasional work on evenings and weekends. Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment; occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 5-10 pounds.
