Job Description SUMMARY: Stride Tutoring is an exciting new startup within Stride's portfolio of companies, focused on building and scaling an innovative educational platform that connects tutors and students. Our aim is to enable students to achieve their educational goals through receiving high-quality, personalized online tutoring from expert, certified teachers. Stride Tutoring is seeking an Academic Analytics Researcher to conduct research relating to the impact of tutoring services. The position participates as a member of the Chief Data Office and supports academic improvement related to Stride Tutoring services by identifying and analyzing school/district data, proprietary data, and third-party data to answer thoughtful and relevant research questions. This position will design and execute quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, with a strong emphasis on quantitative efficacy studies aligned with ESSA Tiers of Evidence, by collecting and analyzing data, interpreting results and writing and presenting insightful research findings, including identifying potential actions for improvement as well as cautions based on each analysis. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. * Conduct high-quality, large-scale quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research aligned to ESSA Tiers of Evidence and in accordance with What Works Clearinghouse Procedures and Standards, including study design, data collection, organization, statistical modeling, and reporting related to academic performance and implementation of tutoring in schools and programs. Provide quality assurance at all phases of the research process; Work with third-party researchers to validate internal studies; * Employ advanced statistical analysis to answer questions posed by internal and external stakeholders; * Extract data from multiple sources and assemble tables using pre-determined common identifiers. Scrub, parse and sort data based on internal rules, best practices, industry standards, corporate policies and research specifications; * Prepare deliverables including detailed research reports and PowerPoint presentations that provide high-level overviews of methodology (design and analysis), major conclusions, constraints or cautions, and actionable next steps; Submit final research reports to public evidence repositories, as needed. * Propose meaningful project ideas. Develop insightful research proposals based on collaboration with internal stakeholders and senior leadership; * Develop and implement processes and instruments to collect data; Collect data routinely and independently as requested to monitor and report on implementation of specific initiatives; * Track and report on research activities, progress, and outcomes. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Demonstrated expertise with ESSA Tiers of Evidence and What Works Clearinghouse Procedures and Standards * Ph.D. in education research, statistics, research methods or a related field AND * Three (3) years of experience with a wide range of research projects, statistical methods and assessment strategies related to mining data to understand process improvement in the education market, both quantitative and qualitative OR * Equivalent combination of education and experience Certificates and Licenses: None required. OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Advanced computer skills, particularly with statistical software, such as SPSS or STATA, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Experience in the field of K-12 academic research pertaining to school effectiveness and student achievement * Demonstrated expertise in research or evaluation methodology, design, and analysis, including advanced quantitative and mixed methods. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $$66,379.50 to $170,037.60. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors.
