SLUCare Physician Group SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is seeking faculty applicants for a Pediatric Nephrology Assistant/Associate Professor position available in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology of the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Appointments are anticipated at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. Candidates for the positions should be board eligible/ board certified in Pediatric Nephrology. Responsibilities will include participation in clinical care, medical education, and administrative duties. The Division provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and outreach clinic sites. Excellent opportunities for teaching in both didactic and clinical settings are available at the medical students and residents. The institution is open to working with many types of foreign visa holders, as well as green card holders and US citizens. The candidate should have an interest in academic achievement in pediatric nephrology. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. SSM Health SLUCare Physician Group is seeking faculty applicants for a full-time appointment in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology, Department of Pediatrics at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Academic rank with Saint Louis University School of Medicine is commensurate with experience. The physician candidate must have an MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) and be board-eligible/certified in pediatric nephrology. Responsibilities include providing clinical care for children with a variety of renal illnesses or hypertension during inpatient and outpatient settings while supervising health care trainees. Services include renal transplantation, inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis, inpatient and home peritoneal dialysis, hemofiltration and plasmapheresis. The Division includes accredited renal transplant and dialysis programs. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology consists of 4 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners with a wide array of training backgrounds and academic interests. The Division is supported by a team of clinical nurses, research and transplant coordinators, a dietitian, a social worker and administrative staff.

Excellent opportunities for teaching in both didactic and clinical settings are available at the medical student and post-graduate levels. The division is a participant in SCOPE, IROC, NAPRTCS, PNRC, CureGN and other national research and quality programs. The candidate should have an interest in academic and scholarly achievement in pediatric nephrology.

Our faculty are based at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, a Magnet designated, 195-bed free standing hospital and ambulatory care center located in midtown St. Louis, serving a diverse urban and metropolitan population in an over 200-mile referral radius primarily in Missouri and Illinois. Our services include a 65 bed Level 4 NICU complemented by a Level 3 NICU at our maternity hospital and a community network of newborn nurseries. A 21 bed PICU/CCU includes a thriving Cardiac surgery program. Transplant services include Bone Marrow and solid organ transplant. All major Pediatric medical, surgical, and behavioral specialties are included in our Departments and Divisions. Community based outpatient offices are located throughout the near metropolitan area.

SLUCare Physician Group through its affiliation with Saint Louis University School of Medicine is the academic medical practice of SSM Health, St. Louis with more than 600 health care providers in hospitals and medical offices throughout the St. Louis region. Our physicians are among the most highly trained in their fields: more than 50 specialties in all. We have national and international experts, renowned for research and innovations in medicine. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate patient care in a high-volume children’s hospital with trainees and other sub-specialists

  • Ability to lead a medical provider team and work collaboratively with ancillary services

  • Ability to teach and educate trainees and advanced practice providers

  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent time management skills

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical pediatric nephrology inpatient and outpatient services including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, hemofiltration, plasmapheresis, renal biopsy, ambulatory BP monitoring and pre/post renal-transplant care as designated by the Division Director

  • Provide consultative services as requested by other specialty services within the hospital

  • Provide on-call coverage from home for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital as per Divisional schedule

  • Provide timely and appropriate documentation of all services conducted on behalf of the Division

  • Participate in Divisional educational conferences for trainees and staff and community providers as needed

  • Participate in Quality Improvement projects as and when required in consultation with the Division Director

  • Maintain all the board licensing and credentialing requirements to maintain privileges at hospital

  • Work closely with faculty mentors and the Division Director on the SLU academic portfolio

Minimum qualifications

Candidates must be BC/BE in Pediatric Nephrology.

Candidates must be eligible for a Missouri license
