WSP USA Geotechnical Engineering Intern- Summer 2025 in Saint Louis, Missouri

Our Geotechnical & Tunneling Technical Excellence Center is seeking a Full-Time Geotechnical Engineering Intern to work out of our St. Louis, MO office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

The candidate will gain experience in geotechnical, tunnel engineering and trenchless technology under direct supervision of some of the firm's leading engineering professionals. This internship will involve working in an office environment, but may also include some time in the field as well.

Your Impact

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.

  • Work on some of the most challenging geotechnical and underground projects in the Midwest and throughout the country.

  • Assist geotechnical and tunnel engineers in a variety of tasks for projects throughout the proposal, design, and construction periods.

  • Analyze subsurface data results, prepare geotechnical memorandums, and perform engineering calculations under direct supervision of a supervising geotechnical engineer.

  • Collaborate on the production of contract drawings and engineering calculations using a variety of drafting and design software.

  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information for projects during construction.

  • Prepare, attend, and provide minutes for meetings and presentations.

  • Complete training on assigned tasks.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

  • Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Geotechnical Engineering or related Undergraduate program.

  • Demonstrated interest in Geotechnical Engineering or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.

  • Must be 18 or older.

  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

  • Flexible to perform field inspection work, if the opportunity presents itself.

  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.

  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft applications, and should feel comfortable working outdoors and indoors with others.

  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus
