Air National Guard Units AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32) in Saint Joseph, Missouri

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WS-8801-14 AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1444000 and is part of the MO 139th Airlift Wing. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a non-bargaining position. This position is also advertised on AGR Announcement #AF24-050. Responsibilities Plans on an annual or multi year basis the overall allocation of personnel, funding and equipment resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations. Provides higher level management and/or leadership information on status of work projects, budget estimates, changes in equipment, facilities, techniques etc. for mission planning purposes. Coordinates and directs the work of units supervised. Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines. Balances workload for subordinate work groups. Promotes economical and efficient work operations. Analyzes production, cost and personnel utilization records and makes adjustment in operations to correct problems. Prepares and/or provides inputs to operating instructions and initiates work plans to be followed by subordinate workers in accomplishing critical or emergency work projects. Coordinates work operations with other organizations and functions. Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by them. Makes formal appraisal of supervisors' work performance and reviews employee appraisals submitted by them. Determines long range and supervisory training needs for all levels of subordinates developing resource options, justifications and methods to accomplish training. Chairs production meetings to set priorities in accomplishing the scheduled maintenance plan Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Schedules and approves leave. Assures that appropriate production reports and administrative records are maintained. Establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance; prepares formal requests and recommendations for promotions, reassignments, etc. Acts on personnel problems referred by subordinate supervisors. Hears and resolves grievances and ensures proper corrective action is taken. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be AFSC qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - CMSgt (E-9) Minimum Military Grade - SMSgt (E-8) immediately promotable to CMSgt (E-9) Enlisted - AFSC 2AXXX or 2WXXX Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. WS-14 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months of specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments for an aircraft maintenance function; plan overall allocation of personnel, funding and equipment resources; coordinate and direct work by assigning and explaining work requirements to subordinate supervisors; establish priorities to meet deadlines; and balance workload for subordinate work groups. The specialized experience must also indicate you possess knowledge of the various lines of work performed by an aircraft maintenance function; ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; and ability to adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Must currently hold or have held AFSC 2AXXX. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
