From day one, you’ll dive right into our team, engaging in hands-on training, lectures, mentoring, and real-world experiences. You’ll receive essential support and resources to build a thriving career in emergency veterinary medicine, with immersive training and personalized mentorship that are key to your success. Along the way, you’ll forge meaningful connections with peers and create lasting memories, enriching your professional journey and setting the stage for a fulfilling career.

Get ER-ready in one year of accelerated learning. The EmERge program is divided into three parts:

  • 16 weeks of accelerated boot camp and initial training. The first 4 weeks will be spent at an immersive boot camp with the entire EmERge cohort, including hands-on labs, case-based lectures, and group discussions. The remaining 12 weeks are spent at your primary hospital, rotating through emergency and critical care, as well as other specialties.

  • 20 weeks of hands-on, immersive training guided by an experienced clinician mentor.

  • 16 weeks of experiential training, with continued mentoring.

Topics Covered in EmERge:

  • Clinician Leadership: Develop essential skills to lead and inspire in a high-stakes environment.

  • Principles of Resuscitation and Shock: Master life-saving techniques for critical situations.

  • Sepsis Management: Understand and manage this complex and urgent condition.

  • Fluid Therapy: Learn the principles and application of effective fluid management.

  • Gastrointestinal and Urogenital Emergencies: Gain expertise in handling common and complex emergencies in these systems.

  • Cardiac and Pulmonary Emergencies: Address urgent cardiac and respiratory issues with confidence.

  • Communication Techniques: Enhance your ability to communicate clearly and effectively with teams and clients.

  • Neurologic Emergencies: Diagnose and treat critical neurological conditions.

  • Hemostasis: Focus on controlling bleeding and managing clotting disorders.

  • Electrolyte Disorders: Manage imbalances and their effects on patient health.

  • Immunologic and Endocrine Emergencies: Navigate complex immunologic and hormonal crises.

  • Compassion Fatigue and Burnout: Develop strategies to maintain personal well-being and resilience.

  • Stress Resilience: Build skills to handle the pressures of emergency veterinary medicine.

  • Surgical Emergencies: Get hands-on experience in urgent surgical procedures and techniques

A one-year work commitment after training is required, totaling two years.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited veterinary school

  • Passed (or pending) the NAVLE

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state of interest

Please note that the E mERge program doesn't replace or substitute an internship required for application to a residency.

We’re committed to fair compensation, offering a competitive salary from the outset.

Compensation During the Program:

  • Weeks 1-16: $3,076.92 bi-weekly (equivalent to $80,000 annually)

  • Weeks 17-36: $3,846.15 bi-weekly (equivalent to $100,000 annually)

  • Weeks 37-52: (Market Rate starts here moving forward if you’re ready to start experiential training by week 37.
