Actalent Water Resources Engineer in Saint Charles, Illinois

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.

  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.

  • Conduct stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and environmental permitting for roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines, and powerplants.

  • Occasional site visits to Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.

  • Utilize hydraulics and hydrology modeling software to analyze and evaluate the impacts of project improvements.

  • Design, analyze, and review grading plans, tributary areas, flow calculations, detention pond sizing, release rates, storm sewer and culvert capacities, and other civil site design elements

Additional Details

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of Water Resource/ Drainage Engineer

  • Experience with water main, sanitary, storm sewer design work, grading plans, roadway MFT design style.

  • Ability to train and develop junior engineers.

  • Professional Engineer in Illinois or Wisconsin Certified Flood Plain Manager (CFM) is preferred.

  • Experience with IDNR, US ACOE, FEMA, IDOT or WIS DOT and local & county permitting requirements for storm water & drainage projects.

  • Must be proficient in storm sewer & hydraulic modeling

  • SSA Experience with subdivision and site drainage design and review

  • Some construction experience preferred.
