- Provide hands-on classroom instruction in accordance with approved curricula. Class lecture (up to an hour mainly standing).
- Train students in proper lifting/jacking procedures (bending/stooping).
- Perform vehicle training/repairs on overhead lift (reach overhead).
- Perform vehicle training/repairs on floor (jack stands).
- Be able to lay on creepers and maneuver under vehicle.
- Be able to work under the dash of a vehicle (laying on floorboard of vehicle) to inspect/test/train on under dash components.
- Be able to walk to and from different locations on center with students for scheduled events.
- Instruct/demo/oversee/inspect/check work/jobs performed by the students, this includes but in not limited to some of the following: inspect/check proper torque/tightness of mounting of alternators, starter motors, brake components electrical components, and wheel lug torque (passenger vehicle wheel torque up to 100ft. lbs.)
- Monitor/assist students on vehicle hands on projects (walking, standing).
- Stay current with changes in auto repair industry and revise curriculum to reflect these changes.
- Maintain and verify documentation of participant training progress, attendance and completion attainment per the requirement of contract (s).
- Prepare written activity reports as required and make recommendations for any action necessary.
- Conduct monthly building safety inspections.
- Assure compliance with Health and Safety rules and standards.
- Conduct and maintain vehicle and/or training project inventory.
- Maintain productive working relationships with co-workers, participants, employers, and community agencies.
- Provide performance as role model for students.
- May supervise assistant instructors.
- Perform other related duties as required.
