Role Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist will work as part of the EHS team to implement Magna’s EHS compliance program by conducting Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance inspections and audits, providing advice and guidance to Magna manufacturing operations in Europe, with a focus on Germany, day-to-day management of all aspects of EHS, ensuring compliance with all legislative regulatory bodies and fulfillment of Magna’s standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct EHS audits in Germany with focus on technical elements, incl. preparation of audit reports and action plans
Monitor progress on action plans and legal activities
Manage third party EHS compliance audit program
Monitor and analyze EHS performance, such as incident rates and trends
Manage escalation process for underperforming plants
Maintain ongoing contact with plant EHS contacts and/or management, providing support and counsel in EHS related topics
Participate in the design of Magna’s global EHS programs and projects and implementation in Europe
Develop, maintain and communicate Corporate EHS policies, guidelines and initiatives
Perform EHS Trainings
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Related degree or equivalency in the field of Occupational Health & Safety and Environment
Minimum of 5 years work experience in the EHS field, preferably in automotive manufacturing or an industrial setting
Proven organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, manage time and schedules in face of competing priorities
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and shop floor employees
Current knowledge of EHS German and European legislation
Familiarity with environmental, health and safety management systems: ISO 14001, ISO 45001 would be an advantage.
Compliance auditing and training experience an asset
Ergonomics skills and experiences would be an advantage
Language: German and fluent in English. Another language would be an advantage
Very good MS Office skills
Willingness to travel (ca. 50%)
