Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW DAY SHIFT PART TIME BENEFITED Summary: The CT Technologist demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under indirect supervision, is responsible for performing and assisting with advanced computer tomography (CT) applications for medical cross-sectional imaging for interpretation by a Radiologist. (S)he provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

Responsibilities:

Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare. Prepares patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment and accessories as directed. Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Assesses, plans, provides intervention and evaluates care for each patient based on their ages to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure. Obtains and verifies patient's clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the interpreting physician in an accurate and timely manner. Prepares and administers contrast media per department protocol. Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters assuring proper identification is evident. Provide appropriate interpretive worksheets for applicable examinations and perform a variety of post processing applications on CT data sets. Operates computer software for production of 3-D CTA images and reconstructions from CT data sets for optimal visualization of patient's anatomic structures. Works in conjunction with radiologists and other clinicians to ensure that the post processed images are of maximal clinical value. Perform and assist with advanced CTA applications including but not limited to cardiac analysis, and /or 3-D CTA renderings in head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities. Produces quantitative measurements when indicated. Ensures that images requiring post processing or manipulation are networked to appropriate workstations, and processed images are networked to PACS and other viewing or archival systems in a timely manner. Uses RIS (radiology information system) to update scheduling and billing records, indicating that a 3-D procedure was performed, and linked to the correct exam. Maintains flexibility to ensure department workload consistency. Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment. Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Preserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
