Position Overview:

Our growth has created the need for a Tooling and Consumables Supervisor to play a pivotal role in our manufacturing operations. This position offers the opportunity to make significant contributions to our daily production activities! In this role you will lead and mentor a diverse team of technicians that will support production functions in the manufacturing of state-of-the-art Locomotives, Coach cars, and Light Rail vehicles.

We’re in search of an individual with a robust track record in tool crib management within the dynamic landscape of manufacturing or industrial settings. The perfect candidate will possess extensive expertise in inventory management, maintenance supervision, and the streamlining of tool utilization and processes.

What your day may look like:

  • Lead with a commitment to absolute safety and health for all employees.

  • Optimize the tool room workflows and plan resources for factory wide tooling and manufacturing gases by reviewing historical use and forecasting future volumes and budget.

  • Implement tracking for physical tool crib inventory and manage cost center spending by cost center including cycle counting for inventory and removing obsolete tools using an inventory management software.

  • Handle up to 3,000 unique tools and maintain a detailed calibration log for precision.

  • Innovate in-house calibration processes to reduce expenses and coordinate factory wide mass calibration of factory wide tools such as welding machines, torque wrenches, crimpers, and etc.

  • Coordinate with vendors for on site for services including ordering, receiving, and delivering consumables in various locations of the facility.

  • Adjust team size as needed and ensure clear internal communication. Build a positive work culture and fosters team development. Facilitate positive communication within the tool crib department and across all collaborating departments.

  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews including planning, monitoring, and documenting the training & development of Tool Crib technicians. Oversee a significant budget with a focus on cost reduction.

  • Guide projects strategically, mitigating risks, and meeting production timelines.

To thrive in this role, you’ll have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or Engineering.

  • Proven tool room experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • 5+ years of experience managing a team within industrial operations.

  • 3+ years of experience in OEM capital equipment assembly operations within a schedule-driven, moderate-volume, and diverse product mix, engineer-to-order project environment.

  • Proficient in Excel (including Pivot Tables and Macros), SAP, SharePoint, and Power BI.

  • Excellent communication skills.

The pay range for this position is $79,400-107,200. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
