Description
We are offering a long-term contract opportunity for an Accounting Assistant in the Insurance industry, located in Sacramento, California. This role will play a pivotal role in the financial control function of our organization where you'll be at the heart of ensuring we meet essential internal, legal, and regulatory standards while delivering on-time, high-quality results.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with global finance teams, driving continuous improvement and supporting project-driven activities.
• Provide essential transactional accounting services, supporting treasury, financial planning, analysis, reporting, and commercial finance.
• Process accounts payable checks and reconcile AP Subledger to the general ledger.
• Manage the accounting system, focusing on accounts payable and general ledger.
• Assist with banking activities, including posting cash receipts, making deposits, and preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
• Consolidate local accounting data into the parent company's general ledger at the end of each month.
• Help with the integration of AP/GL to Oracle.
• Reconcile the billing application to monthly journals and Merchants accounts.
• Serve as a local subject matter expert in the accounting integration program, providing critical insights and support.
Requirements • Proficiency in financial reporting and accounts payable (AP)
• Demonstrated understanding of quality control in finance
• Familiarity with "About Time" software
• Solid experience in accounting reconciliations and billing procedures
• Skill in check processing and cash handling
• Ability to perform ad hoc financial analyses
• Expertise in managing general ledger accounts
• Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software
• Experience in handling deposits and bank reconciliations
• Knowledge of financial consolidations
• Familiarity with Oracle financial software
• Understanding of financial control measures and financial planning
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members
• Comfortable working onsite as needed
• Knowledge of "Go" programming language is a plus
• Experience in treasury management
• Ability to derive insights from financial data
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in financial processes
• Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in accounting.
