Robert Half Senior Accountant in Sacramento, California

Description

A senior accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing various aspects of financial operations, often within a department or for the entire organization. Their duties can widely vary depending on the organization's size and industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and preparing financial statements and reports, such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash-flow statements, etc.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and enforcing adherence to requirements.

  • Leading and coordinating the budget process, including the establishment of budgets, review of budgets, and monitoring budget variances.

  • Facilitating and coordinating internal or external audit processes.

  • Supervising, training, and mentoring junior staff.

  • Assisting in the development of accounting policies and procedures for financial management.

  • Participating in various financial analyses such as forecasting, trend analyses, financial planning, etc.

  • Ensuring the company’s financial records are kept up-to-date.

  • Managing the company’s tax and other statutory compliance matters.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced degree or professional accounting certification such as CPA or ACCA is typically preferred.

  • Several years of experience in accounting, including experience in a leadership role.

  • Proficient understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail.

  • Excellent problem solving and project management skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines concurrently.

  • High levels of confidentiality, integrity, and dependability.
