Public Entity Business Development Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To facilitate the company's top-line growth by vetting and qualifying public entity (PE) opportunities across the U.S. to build an actionable PE sales pipeline.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Vet and qualify opportunities by obtaining current contract terms to know the estimated value of the opportunity, when the PE will go out to bid and who the incumbent is.

  • Identify and maintain internal relationships/partnerships to develop opportunities, i.e., Market Intelligence, Proposal Unit, Business Development, and Client Services

  • Collaborate with business development to create targeted outreach call and/or email campaigns semi-annually

  • Maintain and enforce PE CRM best practices around data entry across all potential prospects and in development opportunities

  • Run pipeline activity reports for calls with BDDs and attend as necessary

  • Develop a conference strategy for the top 50 accounts and research key regional industry conferences to attend

FIRST-YEAR POSITION DEVLIVERABLES

Support for US PE pipeline development strategy:

  • Focus on 2025 - 2026 “In development” pipeline

  • Continue building out the State ORM pipeline and identify the next 25 largest PEs that we do not already have

  • Build out property pipeline for State Office of Risk Management programs

  • Build out independent managed care and property pipeline targeting pools and JPAs

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES

  • Acquire the skills and experience necessary to prepare for assuming a BDD position

  • Understanding the BDD’s role in the RFP Process

  • Developing a go-to-market strategy

  • Mastering the Sedgwick story and products and services

  • Engaging with associations

  • Tapping into Sedgwick network

  • Identifying key influencers to buyer in the marketplace

  • Understanding the competition

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization’s quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience

Four years related industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Strong research skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Analytical and interpretive skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Self-motivated

  • Understanding of workers compensation and liability claims management preferred

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $105,000 USD to $125,000 USD plus bonus eligibility . A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
