  • Specify, develop, verify, and support the Wireless Modems used in the Wireless SoCs of the Connectivity Solutions Division of Renesas, throughout the complete project cycle.

  • Closely follow standardization efforts and translate existing and roadmap radio PHY requirements into highly efficient and innovative algorithms, architectures, and modem hardware solutions, in order to provide Renesas a competitive advantage in the IC market.

  • Contribute to shaping the future of Renesas wireless products.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Translate complex radio PHY standardization specifications, as well as customer proprietary PHY requirements, into optimal modem algorithm, architecture, and hardware solutions, meeting performance, gate count, power, testability, product type-approval, and timeline constraints.

  • Execute feasibility studies.

  • Understand the background of the standards and application scenarios for system implementation.

  • Break down the RF and DBB specifications, develop high level models, and run high level verification simulations.

  • Review and optimize existing modem algorithms and implementations.

  • Verify the functionality and performance of the proposed modem solutions in simulation environments or using fpga test platforms.

  • Evaluate the modem solutions in the lab and fine-tune the configuration of the modem towards an optimum system performance and system power consumption balance.

  • Support the HW/SW development for evaluation, characterization, and testing.

  • Troubleshoot design and architectural issues.

  • Document all development / design issues.

  • Work closely with multidiscipline team members, and contribute to datasheets, architectural spec’s and development plans.

  • Support DFT strategy and implementation.

  • Support test development and ramping up production.
