Job Overview

We are seeking candidates for remote work within the EMEA region, with a special invitation for applications from the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, France, and Spain.

The Strategic Business Development (SBD) team is tasked with the ideation, development, and advocacy of our most promising organic and inorganic growth opportunities. Serving as trusted advisors to the executive team, the SBD team is crucial in spotting and nurturing opportunities that align with our goal of portfolio expansion and growth through both organic and inorganic initiatives.

The Senior Manager of Automation Controls and Sensors Global SBD will become a key member of the Industrial Business Unit (BU) SBD team, reporting directly to the Head of Strategy, Business Development, and M&A of the Industrial BU.

Automation Controls represents one of the largest and most prioritized end-markets for the Industrial Business Unit. TE is a market leader, boasting an extensive product range, a global manufacturing presence, and robust OEM customer relationships in all major regions. The Senior Manager Global SBD will spearhead the development and implementation of strategies to enhance TE’s growth and market share in the global Automation Controls sector. With deep industry expertise, a robust strategic skill set, and proven execution abilities, the Senior Manager Global SBD will not only foster growth above the market rate in these key areas but also scout for new growth avenues. They will be energized by engagement with senior stakeholders, product management, and sales leaders within the Business Unit. This role is designed for high-caliber professionals seeking to make a significant global impact and eager to fast-track their career progression in strategy, sales/product management, or general management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and own TE's strategic approach for targeted end-markets across various applications, crafting "where to play" and "how to win" strategies that merge in-depth market and customer insights with TE's product knowledge and market entry strengths.

• Guide a team of skilled Business Development (BD) professionals, each specializing in different applications/sub-applications, to achieve growth above market expectations by providing clear strategic direction and implementing the "where-to-play" and "how-to-win" strategies effectively.

• Lead the team in producing actionable market intelligence and insights, encompassing product knowledge, competitor analysis, market trends, technological developments, and regulatory landscapes. Ensure regular briefings for key stakeholders, including executive management, regarding these insights and trends.

• Offer structured support by identifying and analyzing potential market opportunities that are closely or distantly related to current markets.

• Collaborate with Sales to share ownership of the five-year growth goals, both in terms of revenue and opportunity pipeline, contributing an informed perspective on achieving above-market growth in the chosen end-markets.

• Enhance the long-term opportunity pipeline across various applications by engaging in pipeline reviews, offering strategic guidance to sales and marketing teams, and aiding in the planning and optimization of sales coverage.

• Continuously evaluate both existing and potential new avenues for value creation within the array of growth vectors, which include commercial market approaches, portfolio expansion (whether through organic growth or acquisitions), and strategic partnerships, specifically in the targeted market segments.

• Act as the advocate and authority for the market segment, being the acknowledged "expert" and "leader" who not only sets the strategic direction but also influences investment decisions and takes decisive action to secure success in the market segment.

• Strategies to capture targeted market segments, including the development of application roadmaps and plans to expand the portfolio into adjacent products via partnerships or acquisitions.

• The quantity and caliber of collaborative product and technology roadmaps with key customers.

• Annual revenue pipeline and its conversion rates.

• Sustained revenue growth surpassing the market's growth rate.

What your background should look like:

• Minimum of 6-10 years' experience in strategy, strategic marketing, or product management within a leading Automation Controls or Industrial Communications firm.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering from a prestigious institution is mandatory.

• Deep understanding of the application and industry landscape, key players, current and future trends, and growth vectors.

• Proven success in strategic and market analysis processes such as market segmentation, strategic planning, competitive analysis, market research, new product development, and launch, as well as strategic marketing. A high level of professional curiosity and comfort with exploring new strategic opportunities.

• Commercial insight and empathy towards customer needs and end-state solutions.

• Proven track record of converting strategies into actionable plans and managing performance by utilizing processes, tools, systems, and KPIs (e.g., Hoshin).

• Excellent teamwork and leadership capabilities – demonstrated success in achieving results in cross-functional, non-hierarchical, and multicultural settings. Competent in working effectively with and influencing individuals at all levels of an organization.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and motivate a high-performance team across various regions, including the capability and readiness to attract, recruit, and retain diverse top talent.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills – adept at communicating complex subjects effectively to multicultural and cross-functional audiences, including senior executives.

• Readiness to travel (up to 20%) to TE locations, participate in industry conferences, and visit customers, among other activities.

• Professional working proficiency in English and German is essential.
