JOB SUMMARY

Transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.

Reports to: Director - Radiology

FLSA: Non-exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.

Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.

Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department.

Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.

Transports patients to and from nursing unit to imaging by bed, stretcher or wheelchair, observing safety precautions.

Responsible for the transportation and maintenance of O2 tanks and associated equipment.

Maintains a clean and safe working environment.

Demonstrates the ability to make appropriate independent decisions.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Works in cooperation with peers, imaging personnel, and ancillary departments to ensure that patients are transported with as few delays as possible. Notifies departments of delays.

Demonstrates knowledge of Infection Control Policies and Procedures in daily contact with patients.

Reports all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other hospital employees to appropriate personnel immediately, at all times.

Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all departmental staff, hospital staff, patients, families, and hospital visitors.

Receives, places, and transfers telephone calls. Uses good telephone etiquette. Gives area, name, and title when receiving or making telephone calls.

Will perform additional duties, as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

BLS required

Minimum Work Experience

Customer service experience preferred.
