Citigroup Senior Data Engineer - VP in Rutherford, New Jersey

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop enterprise data model and data strategy for enterprise applications.

  • Interface with clients to understand business requirements and implement solutions.

  • Design and optimize systems that can process massive amounts of data while ensuring high performance and stability.

Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.

  • Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards

  • Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate should have 10+ years of experience with designing data intensive applications.

  • Strong background in designing enterprise data models and handling large scale enterprise databases.

  • Experience with Data Modeling, Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Cataloging, Data Replication.

  • Experience with data engineering techniques like building data lakes and data warehouses, data mesh, data pipelines, ETL vs. ELT

  • Experience with designing and developing distributed systems, handling structured and unstructured data to store, analyze and report.

  • Experience with developing and maintaining large and complex database systems using relational databases like Oracle, and other big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark etc.

  • Proficient in PL/SQL and Unix Shell scripts. Strong SQL, PL/SQL development and database tuning experience.

  • Experience with Data Quality and data lineage.

  • Experience in designing Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Operational Data Store (ODS) and Data Warehouse applications.

  • Expert knowledge of logical and physical database design using Industry standard tools like Magicdraw, Erwin or IBM Infosphere .

  • Proficient in database design, development, database architecture and data modeling .

  • Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Enterprise Risk Management and Financial Industry is a plus.

  • Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

  • Experience with large scale databases, RAC, Oracle as a Service and performance tuning

Other Skills:

  • Experience in leading and managing small teams including offshore resources.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, O/S.

  • Ability to excel in a team environment as well as work independently.

  • Experience with source code management tools such as SVN, Git/Bit-bucket

  • Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related discipline.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$142,320.00 - $213,480.00
