Job Description

The Corporate Counsel, Contracts (North American Market) reviews, drafts and negotiates a wide variety of commercial contracts. They provide advanced and independent legal advice, prepares contracts, represents business interests in contract negotiations, and supports legal team in other related matters.

Hybrid Schedule

  • Independently drafts, reviews, negotiates both customer and supplier agreements, real estate leases, software licenses, purchase, sales, insurance contacts, etc.
  • Ensures that contracts are in compliance with legal, regulatory and company policies.
  • Conducts legal, regulatory, and business-related research and reviews various agreements and documents.
  • Acts as escalation point for Paralegals who have contract questions or issues.
  • Participates in special projects where the experience, ability, or expertise of the attorney merits involvement.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • J.D. degree from accredited law school and admission to NJ bar or eligibility for NJ In-house counsel license
  • 3 to 7 years as a practicing attorney, preferably with both private and in house legal practice experience
  • Direct knowledge of and experience in commercial contracting and legal concepts related thereto.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Licensed to practice law in New Jersey or at least one state within the United States and an attorney in good standing in such jurisdiction with the ability to obtain a NJ in-house counsel designation
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Language Skills: English - Advanced level
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic level
  • Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Advanced level
  • Analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation and legal reasoning skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and coordinate a variety of internal and external activities having legal significance to the Company
  • Ability to manage issues and workload independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
Computer Skills
  • MS Office (Word, Excel) - Intermediate user proficiency
Benefits
  • Salary - $100,000-$134,000 based on experience
