Job Description Summary

Ready for a new and exciting career opportunity reporting directly into the UK Naval Quality Leader, collaborating with a strong and diverse project team engaged in solving exciting challenges within our Naval Projects portfolio.

This role will require both hands on and supplier-based engagement, with duties that vary month to month, dependent on the status of the projects, customer interaction and issue resolution.

This role is based at our Rugby (Warwickshire) facility, where travel to our supply chain and other locations can be expected.

The Naval Supplier Quality Inspector, supporting New Build, Spares & Services, will provide support to the Supplier Quality Team for the Naval Project portfolio, supporting witness and surveillance inspections within the UK supply base whilst maintaining a close working relationship with our supply chain, ensuring all activities are requested and completed to schedule without compromising on quality.

His / her main activity will be to oversee the build of complex fabrications covering a whole array of exotic materials while providing technical support to the supply chain team and engineering department to help assist with build efficiency and eliminate unforeseen problems.

As a Naval Supplier Quality Inspector, you must be self-motivated, have superb attention to detail and be able to organize workload with minimal supervision.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Witnessing and surveillance of welding / fabrication activities, NDT, heat treatment, welding trials, weld inspections, weld repairs, pressure testing activities, dimensional inspections.

  • Provide detailed inspection reports of witness inspections & surveillance findings, with follow up activities to support closure of any findings.

  • Safeguarding that all relevant procedures and quality documentation are adhered to without compromise.

  • Interfacing with both the Customer and the Suppliers, at all levels, ensuring all relevant information is relayed and adhered to.

  • Review supplier quality documentation, inclusive of welding & NDE qualifications / records (ITPL, control procedures, test procedures etc.).

  • Sign off of supplier documentation packages and attended inspection steps / activity, to support delivery of the supplier EOMR to the Project Quality team.

  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Welding processes & NDT, methods.

  • Capacity to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Inspection Standards.

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel, as required.

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance.

  • Ensure product compliance with contract requirements and applicable specifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Formal technical and / or quality qualification or practical manufacturing experience.

  • Significant experience in Steam Turbine and / or Generator Business.

  • Significant experience in a combination of Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain environments.

  • CSWIP 3.1 /3.2 Welding Inspection (3.1 Minimum).

  • PCN L2 Dye Penetrant Inspection (UT, RT MPI Desirable).

In this role he / she will be working on Naval projects which requires the successful individual to hold the relevant UK Security Clearance. We will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not have it. Due to the nature of the work an individual is required to be a UK National or a Dual National from a on ITAR country (as approved by the MOD).
