Cisco Test Engineer in RTP, North Carolina

Who We Are

This position is with the Supply Chain Product Operations Security Team. The team supports the Next Generation Firewall Business Unit (NGFWBU) which is based in San Jose, California, USA. The product platforms are from ultra-high-end to low-end Security products.

What You'll Do

As a Test Engineer within our development team, you will be responsible for providing functional test support, order verification, and HW quality support. You will "shift-left" by engaging early with Hardware & Software Design, Diagnostic, Global Mfg Ops, and Reliability Engineering teams. In short, you will support End-to-End Test Development on Security Products.

Who You Are

You have knowledge of Infrastructure support and tools used to deploy our solution including but not limited to CICD methodologies. You can debug from system down to component level. You can read electronic Schematics, Layouts, Mechanical Design Drawings, and comfortable using common Lab equipment such as: DMM, Scopes, Logic analyzers, PSUs, Signal generators, etc.

We are looking for an engineer who thrives in an Agile team environment. You are self-motivated requiring minimal direction leading and working with Design Teams & Contract Manufacturers. You seek constant improvement of product test development. You are energized and want to learn new tools and build new processes to dynamically grow the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Test Strategies and write Test Procedures for Manufacturing Test

  • Assess HW Coverage & Solving Point of Contact

  • Perform Test Process Gap Analysis & Drive Continuous Test Improvement

  • Tackle Test and DFT Issues

  • Test Rack Setup & Networking Configuration

  • Define & Design robust Test and Mfg Test Fixtures

  • Evaluate & Optimize Test, Test Coverage, and Yield Improvement

  • Early Engagement during Concept Commit & Prototyping

  • Lead Transfer & Set up of New Products or New Software to a Manufacturing Site

  • Handle Test Capacity and Expansion Planning

  • Educate Factory on Products and Test Development Tools & Procedures

  • Reveal Root Cause and Drive Corrective Action Upstream

  • Maintain Manufacturing Test Code

  • Independent Adventurous, and takes Initiative

  • Adapt quickly in an Iterative Fashion

  • Strong Interpersonal & Team Skills

  • Drive Resolution of Hardware Design and Diagnostic issues

  • Understands Design and Functionality via HW Spec and Schematics

  • Hardware Architectures, Design Concepts, and Engineering Development Practices

  • Understands Coding Standards

  • Familiar with Test Automation Platforms (eg: Apollo)

  • Knowledge in New Product Introduction (NPI) & Mfg Environment and Processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS in ECE, ECET, EE, EET plus 3+ year experience or BS in ECE, ECET, EE, EET plus 5+ years’ experience

  • Identify and Diagnose Potential Problems in Hardware & Software; Identify, Report, and Fix Defects

  • Experience in Configuring Servers, Switches, & Routers

  • Experience with Test Automation with Linux & Python Scripting Background

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications - ScrumMaster & Cisco

  • Design Lab Experiments for Root Cause Leading to Corrective Action

  • Experience with Reviewing Hardware Designs to Define Test Coverage

  • Knowledge of SCM - Bitbucket & GitLab
