Corewell Health Fire Alarm Fire Suppression Tech in Royal Oak, Michigan

Job SummaryTests, inspects, maintains and repairs the fire alarm, fire suppression and support systems located throughout Beaumont Health System campuses and offsite buildings. Ensures fire alarm and fire suppression systems meet standards dictated by AHJ's, CMS, State and local Fire Marshals, Joint Commission, and FM Global. Records all findings in detail to satisfy the document review requirements conducted by AHJ's, CMS, State and local Fire Marshals, Joint Commission, and FM Global.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts an ongoing test program to ensure proper operation of the fire alarm signaling systems and the automatic fire sprinkler systems located throughout the Beaumont Health campuses and offsite buildings (to include, but not limited to smoke detectors, signals, fire doors, water flows, tamper switches and fire pumps).

  • Drain down sprinkler systems for updates as needed.

  • Maintains and repairs the fire alarm, fire suppression and support systems.

  • Maintains an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the fire alarm and fire suppression systems to reduce the possibility of false alarms and system malfunctions.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs any deficiencies found during testing.

  • Disables fire detection and suppression systems to allow for completion of ongoing construction projects on the campus.

  • Maintains up-to-date as-built drawings for all fire and suppression systems. Notes any discrepancies found during testing/preventative maintenance.

  • Ensures supplies are available for repair or replacement for fire alarm systems and automatic fire sprinkler systems.

  • Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment.

  • Uses tools and equipment appropriately.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • CRT-Level II Certification - NICET National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Upon Hire

  • LIC-Fire Alarm Specialty Technician License State of Michigan Upon Hire

  • LIC-Electrical Journeyman License – State of MI State upon Hire

  • 3 years of relevant experience fire alarm and fire suppression experience.

Preferred

  • Qualified person from the state of Michigan through ACT 144 on fire alarm and fire suppression systems

  • Preferred Successful completion of two years of relevant technical/vocational school coursework (or equivalent experience).
