The Role

As the Direct Procurement Representative, your role is to execute sourcing strategies that you will help define in the Global Sourcing natural work teams. Your continuous improvement mindset will be crucial in executing and driving operational direct procurement processes in EMEA. You will be responsible for daily purchasing activities, including supplier management, securing raw materials according to established strategies and contracts, as well as sourcing new materials. Collaboration with your cross-functional team will be key to drive and achieve shared goals.

This position reports to the Strategic Sourcing Manager in EMEA and will directly interact with Direct Procurement Operations team (6FTE), the Sourcing Managers, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and many others to accomplish the goals of the business.   You’ll need to be willing to pursue understanding and information on your own and be open to challenges and change. This is an opportunity to develop yourself towards larger Sourcing & Procurement (or other commercial) roles.

Key Responsibilities (not limiting)

  • Processes and documents all P2P transactions in an efficient and accurate manner by working with the Sourcing Managers, Account Payable and key stakeholders in the GSP organization and/or businesses.

  • Work across multiple cross-functional teams, where you will be expected to have influence without authority.

  • Manage day-to-day interaction with suppliers including but not limited to expediting of material delivery, supplier performance assessment and complaint management.

  • Work regularly with Eastman Logistics and Supply Chain to ensure supply.

  • Manage and ensure compliant vendor approval process.

  • Obtain and analyze pricing bids to determine proper sourcing of raw materials.

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and other commercial aspects of vendor relationship.

  • Identify and implement cost savings and avoidance opportunities without impacting service levels.

  • Work safely by being a role model, always demonstrate and encourage safe work habits with everyone, and ultimately drive for zero incidents.

  • Upholds internal and external policies, regulations, and laws.

  • Ensures compliance with Eastman’s corporate and Global Sourcing processes,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts

  • 2+ years professional experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English AND one other European spoken language (ideally German)

  • Expertise in SAP and/or SAP-Ariba data processing systems and Microsoft Office

  • Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing, logistics, and basic understanding of supply chain mgmt.
