QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required
Experience in social service setting preferred
Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. preferred
Must be able to assist clients by effectively working with them for a positive outcome
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have a pleasant phone voice and be able to receive and appropriately relay messages
Ability to be part of a collaborative team
Must be able to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain order and neatness of the client services area and office
Assist with the interviewing, evaluating, documenting, and providing assistance when applicable for the following services: food, clothing, shelter, utilities, referrals and any other assistance through the Social Services network of our community.
Insure client awareness of assistance protocols and limitations. If more assistance is necessary, prior approval is required for emergency situations.
Maintain current files on all clients
Answer incoming calls and assist and/or transfer to the appropriate party
Schedule clients for utility and rental needs
Stock and maintain food pantry, if applicable
Perform other duties as assigned as it relates to social services
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
