The AWS Cloud Engineer will be the primary Systems Administrator for the Lottery as it relates to AWS cloud infrastructure, software cloud distribution, Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) secure communication servers, and Service Now administration. The Specialist is the subject matter experts for these areas, and works with other Specialists, Architects and Analysts across the Information Technology and Information Security teams to achieve Lottery's goals, protect its resources, and provide the highest quality service to Lottery's clientele.
Responsibilities include:
Provision, configure, and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC.
Assist the IAM specialist to implement and manage AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, roles, and users to ensure secure access to resources.
Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS infrastructure and applications.
Provide Minnesota State Lottery Headquarters and Regional Offices staff application software support.
Provide and maintain necessary documentation in accordance with established standards and procedures and maintain currency in information technology field.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of information technology experience that includes:
Experience with the AWS Cloud Platform including but not limited to: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, Route 53, and VPC
Experience in automating infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible
Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues related to AWS Infrastructure and Applications
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.
*A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for eighteen months of experience, OR a related Bachelor’s degree substitutes for one year, OR a related Associate’s substitutes for six months.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Currently holding one or more of these industry standard certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), and CompTIA Security+ Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to develop, communicate and explain complex technical issues to all levels of staff and customers, and are able to adapt instruction techniques to meet the learning styles of a diverse staff
Experience with the administration of hardware and software systems including SFTP Servers, ServiceNow, and GoAnywhere
Experience with software such as Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, AzureArc, Intune, and Autopilot programs
Experience with TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, LAN access topologies, Cisco Intrusion Detection, and VPN services and router configuration
Experience with PCs, peripherals, firewalls, communications protocols, routers, switches, wireless APs, and WAN/LAN hardware components sufficient to provide support and direction
