Key Responsibilities:

  • Color Matching and Formulation:
  • Match custom colors for paints, stains, and varnishes to meet customer and production requirements
  • Utilize color-matching software and spectrophotometers to analyze and adjust LAB values for precise color replication
  • Prepare and mix coatings onsite, adjusting formulas to achieve desired color and performance characteristics
  • Application and Testing:
  • Hand spray coatings onto wood substrates, ensuring even coverage and desired finish quality
  • Conduct test panels and sample approvals for production use
  • Evaluate and adjust application techniques to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Troubleshooting and Quality Control:
  • Identify and resolve finishing issues such as color shifts, adhesion problems, and surface defects
  • Work with production teams to maintain color consistency across batches
  • Ensure coatings meet company and industry standards for durability and aesthetics
  • Equipment and Safety Compliance:
  • Maintain and calibrate color-matching equipment and spray guns
  • Follow proper handling procedures for coatings, solvents, and related chemicals
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations, including PPE requirements and ventilation protocols

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of experience in color matching, paint mixing, or wood finishing, preferably in a manufacturing or lab setting required, including:
  • Knowledge of LAB color measurement and color-matching software (e.g., X-Rite, Datacolor, or similar) required
  • Proficiency in hand-spraying stains, paints, and varnishes with spray guns required
  • Strong understanding of wood finishing techniques and troubleshooting coating defects required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment required
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills required
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and software operation required
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the kitchen cabinet, furniture, or wood coatings industry
  • Familiarity with different coating types, including solvent-based and waterborne finishes
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to wood coatings

Shift: Full Time / Varied schedule (days and evenings) / Monday - Fridays / Weekends as needed

Pay Details: $60,000 - $70,000 annually (Depends on experience)

Background requirements:

Candidates must pass drug screen and background check. Convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, company policy does not permit the employment of candidates with some classes/types convictions.
