In this job, you’ll support the development, analysis, and implementation of SCE’s complex physical and financial trading strategies to manage our energy portfolio while satisfying compliance obligations and regulatory policies. Responsibilities

  • Transacts short-term bundled procurement plan approved commodity products conformance with established risk controls and trading limits.

  • Schedules short-term physical transactions with the pipeline operator to ensure the flow and receipt of the commodity.

  • Monitors resource, transmission, pipeline, and market conditions, and makes appropriate adjustments to balance energy supply.

  • Supports compliance with all regulations in connection with the purchase and/or sale of bundled procurement plan approved commodity products.

  • Supports management presentations, data requests and audits.

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in commodity trading, financial analysis, modeling, data analytics, trading, and/or risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Western States power and gas markets.

  • Experience trading and/or scheduling natural gas on SoCalGas, PG&E, and/or El Paso pipelines.

  • Understanding of the California Independent System Operator.

  • Experience trading and/or scheduling power into organized energy markets.

  • Understanding of the regulatory compliance framework an Investor-Owned Utility operates under in California.

  • Previous experience in front-office, mid-office, and/or back-office functions.

  • Familiarity with Energy Trading Risk Management systems.

  • Self-motivated, curious, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Capable to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet daily deadlines.

  • Desire to deliver quality work products and results.

  • Organized and detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
