CAE USA INC Leader - Technical Operations in Rome, Italy

Role and Responsibilities

As a Leader - Technical Operations, the incumbent will support all training center operations activities to provide a smooth, efficient, and high quality of service of a brand-new Training Center located in Rome, Italy.

In addition, the incumbent will strive to achieve CAE goal on providing world class flight simulator training center operations aligned with CAE’s Vision as a global training partner of choice to enhance safety, efficiency, and readiness towards all aspects of the training center operations.

General overview:

  • Candidate will lead a team of technical personnel, and be responsible for training, and performing annual performance reviews of all employees.

  • Accountable for the maintenance of the aviation training facility and a variety of training equipment that includes FFS, FTD and cabin and services trainers.

  • Responsible to manage local IT and logistics activities for the overall operations.

  • Coordinate delivery and qualification of new simulators and other training devices; plan and support engineering updates when required.

  • Assure the highest level of customer service is provided at all time.

  • Proactively develop a working relationship with various Aviation Regulatory Authorities (EASA, ENAC, etc.) and assure all training devices meet required standards and ensure regular communication with the authorities.

  • Overall responsibility for an inventory that may include aircraft parts.

  • Support the implementation of a quality assurance program and compliance monitoring system that includes performance measures for training device reliability.

  • Responsible for the general and day to day maintenance of the facility.

  • Work closely with customer services and training delivery teams to ensure best customer service and training experience.

  • Responsible for regular reporting to ensure corresponding KPIs are met monthly.

  • Communicate operational and organizational information effectively, and with transparency.

  • Coordinate for successful project execution as needed: Effective planning, scheduling, execution and implementation of all new installations and updates, as well as Compliance Management System and the associated Flight Training Devices qualification process, as per requirements.

Qualifications and skill set requirements:

  • Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aviation related field, with at least 8 years of FSTD technical experience, including at least 5 years on CAE equipment.

  • At least 3 years in a Supervisory position in a FSTD Technical Support environment.

  • Must have the rights to work within the EU.

  • Aptitude to multi-task, and effectively coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to make quality and timely decisions and recommendations on technical matters and personnel (HR) issues. Decisions must be multi-faceted, and weigh operational, technical, and budgetary considerations.

  • Proven ability to create and foster a teamwork environment in which people strive to do their best. Value employees and their contributions, and their inputs to ensure that the team remains engaged. Empower employees through task/role ownership, accountability, and transparency.

  • Exhibit excellent leadership skills to motivate, develop and push himself and direct reports to continuously reach and exceed expectations.

  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, read, spoken, and written. Knowledge of the Italian language would be preferable and beneficial in support of the operations.

  • Highly customer oriented, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the customer. Must be able to deal tactfully in sensitive situations.

  • Ability to prepare a work plan / schedule and allocate resources to meet operational objectives.

  • Solid technical background (Hardware and Software) and familiarity with FSTD technical issues, across all systems, specifically: motion, visual, avionics, dynamics of flight, aircraft systems, etc.…

  • Vast knowledge of various aircraft types, including Commercial Jetliners (Airbus family).

  • Superior understanding of aircraft and training device terminology.

  • Advanced understanding of Commercial Aviation training.

  • In depth knowledge of local & International (EASA, ENAC, etc.) regulations, with demonstrated experience, as they pertain to FSTDs.

  • Advanced computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
