Weston & Sampson Senior Planner/Project Manager in Rocky Hill, Connecticut

Weston & Sampson is rapidly expanding our Planning Practice and is seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Rocky Hill, CT office. The ideal candidate will be a AICP planner with 12 – 20 years of experience with a strong foothold in the Connecticut market.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and support resilience, urban planning and development projects as well as support related business development initiatives.

  • Assist on multi-disciplinary teams on projects.

  • Coordinate directly with clients on existing projects and project development. Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

  • Prepare both analytical and planning-level studies.

  • Review assigned and prospective project(s) to define project scope, determine work procedures/sequences and develops schedules, budgets, staffing, sub-consultant involvement, and progress billing milestones.

  • Manage projects, including scoping, task management, invoices and final closeout. Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of planning work on large-moderate scale projects.

  • Prepare presentations, reports, memoranda, and other high-quality communication materials.

  • Prepare presentations for and facilitate community meetings.

    What you will bring:

  • 12 – 20 years of experience in land-use planning, resiliency and related disciplines

  • Master’s degree in planning or a related discipline is preferred; or a Bachelor degree and at least 16 years of experience in planning or a closely related discipline can be substituted

  • AICP strongly preferred

  • Strong project leadership resume

  • Strong relationships with local developers and regulators specifically related to urban, environmental, and resilience planning

  • Understanding of land-use and environmental regulation.

  • Excellent communication skills, project management, business development, leadership skills

  • Ability to visualize development in accordance with zoning and create graphic representations

  • Understanding of financing mechanisms, grants, loans, etc.
