Job Description
In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program , where you will L earn, E ngage, A pply, and P rogress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Systems-Level Test Engineer Intern with an Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Focus for Summer 2025.Join one of our System Verification Program Area s Test Teams and become a member of a diverse, enthusiastic, and highly productive team , where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects by providing system verification support within a digital engineering environment leveraging model-based systems engineering methodologies for the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programsa program that keeps our nation safe with a credible sea-based nuclear deterrent. This work will specifically support the US and UK TRIDENT Submarine Strategic Weapon System and US Attack Weapon System programs. Our primary function is toperform end-to-end systems-level testing to verify that a system continues to operate and perform to expected mission requirements after changes are implemented. The selected candidate will perform the following functions working closely with numerous systems and software engineering teams in support of the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs:
Performing test development, support, and analysis at all levels of the total system product
Maintaining requirements verification matrix
Performing independent verification and validation to identify risks and issues across numerous hull configurations
Maintaining and managing verification and validation tolerances
Processing trouble / casualty reports
About the Program
Our organization has supported SSP continually since the program s inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched SWS, a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and is the first leg of the US nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation s nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of the COLUMBIA class, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The US Navy projects that this system will be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a truly unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related degree
Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
Understanding of basic engineering principles
Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, etc.)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Lifecyle with an emphasis on verification and test
Familiarity with Quality Assurance process/principles
Experience with software and/or systems testing
Experience with DOORS, MATLAB, CREO, and/or MagicDraw
Experience modeling systems
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $65670
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
