Health First Legal Assistant - Corporate Legal Department in Rockledge, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Legal Assistant facilitates the day-to-day legal matters related to the Integrated Delivery Network (“IDN”). This position plays a critical enterprise role in researching, analyzing, investigating, drafting legal documents, assisting with case management and performing other tasks as delegated by the Coordinator, Corp Governance, Licensure, and Regulation. Provides timely, practical, and actionable services enabling Health First to remain one of the leaders in the industry.

This role requires the highest degree of integrity and ability to engage and influence at the senior-most levels of the organization. The Legal Assistant should be a strong communicator with the ability to build enduring trusting relationships and possess an understanding of how to accomplish objectives both directly and through influence in other areas of the business.

*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: *

  1. Administers and manages the service of Complaints, Petitions, Notices, Subpoenas and other legal documents.
  2. Administers and manages the delivery of notices, demands, contracts and other correspondence.
  3. Assists in the review, payment and tracking of legal expenses.
  4. Assists in case management activities.
  5. Reviews and performs redacting of confidential documents for filing with various courts.
  6. Files pleadings with courts.
  7. Help respond to information requests.
  8. Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in law or related field.
  • Work Experience: Previous experience in legal assistance work highly preferred.
  • Work Experience in lieu of education: At least three (3) years of work experience in legal assistance required in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology. o Keyboarding skills with proficiency in using MS Office Suite applications and online resources. o Familiarity with State of Florida and Federal laws, rules, and regulations. o Ability to employ sound research methods and techniques. o Working understanding of administrative and court procedures, legislative process, and public notice requirements. o Superior relationship-building, written and verbal communication skills. o Ability to prioritize multiple demands.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Sedentary

  • The majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, on site or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
