Employee Relations Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

This position ensures that BAC and its employees are in compliance with policies and procedures that are aligned with employment law and business needs, while mitigating risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Partners with Management Staff and Employee Support Specialists in support of company policies and procedures and provides support on all aspects of employee relations.

  • Provides mentoring, support and guidance for Employee Support Specialists (ESS) and leadership to address and resolve employee relations issues in a fair and timely manner.
  • Develop, implement and communicate HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Consults with BAC legal counsel when needed on employee relations issues.
  • Administers the Random Drug Screening program
  • Develops and delivers training to Human Resources team members and managers on employee relations issues and serves as a subject-matter expert on employee relations.
  • Manages investigations and employee relations issues including dispute resolution, disciplinary, grievances, appeals, restructuring/lay-offs, requests for employment termination and performance management.
  • Compiles memorandums for record, Conduct Memos, and Employment Status Reviews. Makes recommendations for corrective actions, up to and including termination.
  • Responsible for out-processing procedures for exiting staff; conducts exit interviews, completes turnover analysis, recommends retention strategies.
  • Conducts staff outreach to promote positive and effective employee relations.
  • Conducts surveys to assess engagement and employee relations; conducts analysis of findings and makes recommendations to address issues; provides summary feedback to managers.
  • Administers programs and activities to support employee engagement and morale initiatives.
  • Administers and monitors FMLA, Workers Comp, medical and personal leaves of absences.
  • Stays abreast of, monitors, and works to ensure consistent compliance with applicable employment statutes and regulations (such as, Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Immigration and Reform Act).
  • Manages reasonable accommodation process under the ADA, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and other related laws.
  • Manages extended leave and return to work accommodation requests ensuring the appropriate medical documentation is obtained and provides guidance to managers and ESS.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Supervision of one filing clerk.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, education or another related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of Employee Relations experience or HR Generalist experience with at least two of those years handling employee relations.
  • At least two years experience managing and monitoring leave of absence requests, policies and practices consistent with local and federal laws and regulations.
  • A combination of education, certification and experience may satisfy the above requirements.
  • Satisfy Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level 2 background screening requirements.
  • Pre-employment drug screening.
  • Validdrivers' license and maintain a clean driving record.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters' Degree and/or technical certification in human resources, training, education, or other related field. (ie. SHRM Certification)
  • Experience working with Individuals with Disabilities.
  • Five Years of Employee Relations experience.
  • Labor Relations experience.
  • Certification in Human Resources (i.e., PHR, SPHR, HRCI, etc.).
