POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Engineer II serves as the intermediate level technical member of an engineering team. The position will work to satisfy key business initiatives by delivering data and analytics solutions that scale efficiently while improving performance and minimizing costs. The Data Engineer II requires moderate supervision and is expected to proactively identify opportunities for improvement.

The Data Engineer II will work to contribute to strategies, standards, new capabilities, and design to enable faster and easier data access, automated workflows, and improved time to solution for data and analytics initiatives. The Data Engineer II will have a background in design, implementation and support of data integration and ETL/ELT solutions. The position will require experience and working knowledge of Agile and/or Lean methodologies to deliver information services in an efficient and repeatable manner.

The Data Engineer II works with customers, stakeholders, analysts, architects, and other engineers to troubleshoot and find root cause of solution defects. They need to be excellent team players and have demonstrated experience across multiple systems. The Data Engineer II may be a thought leader for certain technologies.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Contributes to the development and design of end-to-end enterprise data delivery and analytic solutions, conducts reviews and validation of systems, code, and security.
2. Develops data pipelines using varying technologies (ETL, API, SQL, cloud) in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
3. Builds to system and security standards for the organization, ensuring compliance with state and regulatory rules with regards to PHI and PII.
4. Contributes to automation of testing and deployment.
5. Works with and coordinates cross functional teams and vendors to ensure the health of Health First’s IT systems.
6. Reviews and jointly develops specifications and requirements for complex data integration and delivery products with users, vendors, and other engineers.
7. Analyzes and installs new data delivery solutions. Provides input into technical "walk- throughs.” Assures solution accuracy, completion, and validity. Responsible for overall technical solution specification and project control.
8. May manage/lead small technical projects. Communicates with users and management the status and completion of work requests.
9. Supports, maintains, and troubleshoots enterprise data delivery solutions.
   10. Develops expertise with a variety of business data domains, source systems, and business processes to enable delivery of solutions applicable across the business’ clinical and business functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent STEM field **
• Licensure:None Required **
• Certification: *Intermediate level technical certification within one year of hire. *
• Work Experience: *At least one year of applicable data engineering experience. *
• Work Experience in Lieu of Education: o Associates degree plus three years of applicable technical experience o Or, in lieu of no degree, five years of applicable technical experience
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Understanding of current developments and trends in Information Technology in one or more of the following domains: + Data Warehousing + ETL/ELT/Data integration + Data modeling / Database design o Ability to work in SQL, Oracle SQL and DB2 o Good soft skills, verbal and written communication, including the ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable terminology, is a necessity. o Able to quickly learn new skills and apply to their current work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent STEM field **
• Licensure: *None *
• Certification: *At least one current intermediate level technical certification required. *
• Work Experience: *1-2 years of experience applying ETL/ELT/data integration to large, heterogeneous datasets. *
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Data integration technologies such as data replication/CDC, message-oriented data movement, API, stream data integration, and CEP. o Dimensional modeling / Star Schema o Cloud services, especially Azure o Hadoop/Mongo DB experience o Knowledge of MUMPS
