Health First Actuarial Analyst III- Actuarial and Underwriting (must reside in Florida) in Rockledge, Florida
*POSITION SUMMARY *
Subject matter expert for the actuarial department in one or more of the following areas: Filings, product development, financial valuation and reporting, population health management.
*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES *
- Develop financial models for the monitoring and projection of current and future business.
- Maintain rating models and data base support programs used in the actuarial department. Update for appropriate actuarial standards of practice, laws and regulations.
- Develop and maintain models for the calculation of appropriate claims and other reserves.
- Develop management reports necessary for the financial management of all products.
- Support the development of required state and federal premium rates and other filings.
- Assist in the determination of cash reserves (IBNR), risk funding mechanisms (SSA, 3-R’s, etc.), budget projections, and all other financial modeling including development of provider payment mechanisms
- Will be considered a Subject Matter Expert in at least one of the above disciplines: Filings, Product Development, Financial Valuation and Reporting, or Population Health Management.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS *
- Education: : BS or BA degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field from accredited college or university with a 3.4 GPA.
- Licensure: None Required
- Certification: Passed three actuarial exams.
- Work Experience: 2 years of experience in at least one of the following support responsibilities: Filings, Product Development, Financial Valuation and Reporting, or Population Health Management.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Possess strong computer abilities with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, SQL or other programming language.
o Knowledge of laws, government regulations, and agency rules for managed care controls.
o Some level of understanding of insurance and associated terminology.
o Strong background in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
o Knowledge of economics and accounting principles and practices, and reporting of financial data.
o Knowledge of document structure and content, including spelling, grammar and rules of composition.
o Be able to perform support tasks autonomously for at least one of the following responsibilities as described above: Filings, Product Development, Financial Valuation and Reporting, or Population Health Management.
o Has demonstrated an ability to work directly with Underwriting, Risk Adjustment, Finance, Decision Support, Group Services and/or Senior Management.
