Description

Pursuant to an Agreement between the Jagiellonian University and the University of Rochester, the Dean of the College at the University of Rochester and the Director of the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies are pleased to announce a one‑semester teaching fellowship at the University of Rochester, which is available for Fall 2025. Applications will be considered in all fields of the humanities and social sciences.

The recipient of the grant will teach one course (4 credits) in the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies, which will be listed with one of the departments in the social sciences or the humanities in the College, and will be expected to give a public lecture to the University community and the local Polish-American community.

Qualifications

The Skalny Center for Polish Studies and the Dean of the College at the University of Rochester are requesting applications from Jagiellonian University faculty who hold the Ph.D. degree for semester-long teaching visits.

The candidates must have excellent English skills. Prior experience teaching in the United States is beneficial, but not required.

The application should include:

  1. A letter outlining academic interests and reasons for applying. Please indicate whether

you are available for Spring 2025, Fall 2025, or either semester. There are usually fewer candidates for the spring semester.

  1. Curriculum vitae with list of publications.

  2. Two or three proposed course titles and short descriptions followed by lecture or discussion topics for 14 weeks of classes.

  3. Two or three titles for a proposed public lecture.

  4. Two letters of recommendation from colleagues in the same academic field from Poland or abroad. The letters may be in English, Polish, German or Russian.

  5. Nomination letter issued by the exchange coordinator in the International Relations Office of Jagiellonian University.
