Klein Steel Service Universal Operator I in Rochester, New York

General Description:

The Raymond Universal Operator I will be responsible for operating manual and CNC saws, overhead cranes, and various types of fork lifts in a high paced environment. Responsible for meeting all quality standards as ordered by customers on blueprints and by utilizing various forms of measuring tools such as tape measures, depth gages, and protractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform every function within the area assigned, and fill in where and when necessary.

  • Deburr and finish parts utilizing Dynafiles, kits and tags, and package all products by predetermined sequence of size, type, style, color, or product code.

  • Operate material handling equipment such as fork trucks and 10 and 5 ton overhead cranes.

  • Verify accuracy of outgoing material utilizing measuring devices, and follow outfeed work orders for proper racking and sequencing.

  • Follow all inventory accuracy functions as it relates to each work area.

  • Ensure that all parts/material are correctly packaged and marked as required by Company or customer standards.

  • Load trucks utilizing fork trucks, cranes, straps, and magnets.

  • Consistent housekeeping of work area with focus on removing safety concerns and keeping all material and paperwork organized.

  • Be willing to work daily and weekend overtime when necessary.

  • Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Attention to safety must be adhered to at all times.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working with steel and/or operating forklifts and overhead cranes is preferred.

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work orders and procedure manuals.

  • Good math skills are essential. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Basic understanding of computers.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and keep up with the daily demands of production.

  • Ability to work shift work, overtime and weekends if required.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand and walk. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The work environment is fast paced and team members must be willing and able to work in both hot and cold temperatures as they may occur occasionally in the warehouse.
