Avangrid Service Company Sr Manager - IT Financial VMO & Projects in Rochester, New York

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $122,699 to $168,711

Position Description

The position is responsible for managing three (3) distinct IT Shared Services groups in support of the Avangrid IT Function - IT Financial Reporting, Centralized Procurement (VMO), and Project Management reporting (PMO).

In the financial reporting capacity, this position manages the overall implementation, integrity and reporting of OPEX and CAPEX budgets in support of the AVANGRID IT group financials. Interfacing and collaborating with Global IT for all the financial requirements including the reporting of financials in both the AVANGRID SAP ERP system and the IT financial and project management system, Clarity. This position also requires significant collaboration with the Corporate Investment Planning team to develop, manage and track both the annual Networks capital investment budget and multi-year capital investment plans.

This position oversees the IT Project Management Office (PMO) in accordance with both Global IT processes and standards, as well in accordance with established industry project management standards and practices to support the delivery of programs and key projects on time, on budget, and meeting all project reporting requirements.

This position oversees the centralized procurement and contract management (VMO) activities ensuring consistency and compliance with global and local Avangrid policies and procedures working in partnership with the Local Corporate and Global procurement functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the assigned IT Financials, VMO & PMO team including (but not limited to) performance reviews, mentoring, development of existing talent and recruitment of new talent, setting objectives and establishing priorities and resource planning.
  • Interfaces and collaborates with Global IT for all financial requirements including the reporting of financials in both the AVANGRID SAP ERP system and the IT financial and project management system, Clarity (new Global Tool forthcoming to replace Clarity)
  • Works in conjunction with the Corporate and Global Finance/Accounting organizations to provide accurate and timely IT budget information.
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Investment Planning team to develop, manage and track both the annual Networks capital investment budget and multi-year capital investment plans.
  • Advises IT management on financial guidelines and policies to help ensure operations are managed in accordance with established Corporate and Global IT financial standards and reporting procedures.
  • Oversees the management of the whole Project Portfolio and Roadmap and engage with the different IT areas for Program delivery tracking.
  • Builds and maintains relationship management with Global Project Team and team of PMO professionals that work with and advise IT Project Managers on implementing and maintaining PMO standards and reporting to help improve the delivery of projects within the IT organizations.
    • Identifies and exploits opportunities for Global synergies and ensures alignment with Global PMO processes, reporting, and execution.
    • Provides direction and oversight of annual Demand Management process for identifying priority projects.
    • Acts as IT representative in business unit interactions in terms of needs gathering and project formulation.
    • Oversees the engagement with IT Teams to define requirements and needs for Project execution.
    • Resource planning and assignment to projects in alignment with IT projects pipeline and in collaboration with IT team leaders.
    • Ensure development of Project Definition and Project Reports and participation in Project Committees.

  • Assists in the management of supplier contract services including new contracts, renewals, and extensions in partnership with Global and Local Corporate Procurement
    • Also assists with identifying opportunities for Global synergies and alignment with global contracts for services and resources.
    • Ensures consistency during the sourcing process and application of a common methodology, process, procedures and documents.
    • Participates in regular meetings with Corporate Procurement to track purchasing backlog delivery and KPI's
  • Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned projects, services, and functional areas within the department.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong service delivery experience, preferably within IT.
  • Vendor and contract management experience.
  • Experience in leading teams.
  • Experience in geographically and culturally diverse organizations or environments.
  • Experience with financial reporting.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of IT concepts, practices, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of financial reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of SAP Back Office.
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures.
  • Prior management supervisory/leadership experience.
