University of Rochester Social Worker in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

General Purpose:

UMHP’s mission is to provide evidence-based psychological and psychiatric services to patients seeking specialized approaches, such as individuals coping with trauma, OCD, complex mood and anxiety disorders, as well as individuals seeking mental health care with a provider in a comfortable setting and with the flexibility of a private practice model of care. As an independently licensed clinician, the social worker provides initial psychosocial and diagnostic assessments, and evidence-based treatment for patients requiring mental health care. Independently develops sophisticated diagnostic formulations, implements evidence-based interventions, and utilizes validated measurement tools to assess treatment response. Routinely collaborates with others in the healthcare team and a variety of disciplines (medicine, surgery, nursing, care management, mental health counseling) to identify high-risk patients with behavioral health and medical comorbidities, and facilitates access to other specialty psychiatric and substance use care as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently and with considerable latitude for autonomous judgment performs complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations for patients and their families when indicated. Ensures the development and implementation of comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients with clearly defined therapeutic goals.

  • Conducts the course of individual, family, couple and systems-oriented and evidence-based psychotherapies within the accepted standards of practice as delineated by UMHP and the Department of Psychiatry, receiving clinical and administrative supervision by senior staff and/or faculty. Supervises other clinicians, and trainees as appropriate.

  • Assesses successful completion of therapeutic goals and plans termination of therapy accordingly.

  • Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director and Division.

  • Documents treatment in patient's electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations.

  • Attends clinic staff and team meetings Attends new staff orientation as required by the Division, Department, and URMC. Participates in all required Departmental and programmatic diversity trainings and professional development.

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of, and follows, all Collaborative Care Division, and Department of Psychiatry Mental Health and Wellness Services policies and procedures.

  • Maintains professional standards and continuing education by reading, attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, and staying up to date for the NYS requirements for maintenance of licensure as appropriate.

  • Engages in annual and periodic performance review process with Program Director, supervisor, and clinical chief, where relevant, for the purposes of recognition of strengths and contributions, feedback, and continuous quality improvement relative to performance in the role as well as the Service needs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • MSW from an accredited social work graduate program.

  • LCSW + 7 years of relevant experience.

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge about and ability to implement evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions.

  • Commitment to and routine demonstration of biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families.

  • Dedication to delivering a team-based integrated model of care.

  • Demonstrates cultural humility and anti-racism values and works toward ensuring all patients feel welcome.

  • Requires NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner as well as the ability to be independently paneled by major insurance companies including Medicare and Commercial insurers.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $57,595 - 80,600 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
