Description
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is seeking a licensed marriage and family therapist to join our team in helping to support our accredited MS MFT program, providing integrated behavioral health care throughout Strong Hospital.
This position will provide didactic classroom teaching, clinical supervision, mentoring, and masters project advising for MFT trainees towards academic standards for graduation, clinical preparedness, and professional development skills for reflective practice and lifelong learning.
Responsibilities:
Teach required graduate-level marriage and family therapy (MFT) courses fitting with clinical and educational experience.
Demonstrate inclusive and affirming learning practices within the classroom and our program.
Monitor academic progress of students in accordance with student learning outcomes, syllabus requirements, and AAMFT ethical and professional standards.
Follow program and graduate school policies, regulations and practices course administration, grading, disability accommodations, student concerns and grievances.
Identify indicators of need for, and design and participate in the development of, student action plans as needed.
Supervise MS MFT practicum trainees in our onsite Strong Family Therapy Services clinic or offsite clinical practicum placements.
Serve as program mentor for MS MFT students.
Advise and/or serve on Master’s Project committees.
Participate in community partnership, engagement, and outreach activities.
Contribute to program achievement and assessment plan review at annual retreat and through regular monthly faculty and supervisor meetings.
Participate as an evaluator in annual student Assessment Days.
Participate in department and program governance and professional development activities (i.e., attend faculty meetings, professional development days, faculty colloquia, grand rounds, committees, etc.)
Maintain active involvement in professional and scholarly activities, particularly those that advance the MFT profession.
Attend program-sponsored social and community-building activities (e.g., recruitment lunch, orientation lunch, fall gathering, graduation dinner, holiday party, MFTI dinner, etc.)
Participate in program recruitment and applicant interview process.
Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality.
Nurture self-directed professional development in an effort to promote lifelong learning.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience teaching, advising and mentoring at the graduate level
Pursuit of an academic development plan for scholarship that advances relational systemic practices, the MFT profession and may offer opportunities for student involvement.
Active participation in AAMFT and other related professional organizations.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion practices.

Qualifications
· Graduate from a COAMFTE-accredited program with a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy (or a related field)
· Evidence of commitment to a relational and systemic model of therapy
· Candidate must hold a license in Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health field with relational and systemic training and experience.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
