Avangrid Service Company Senior Director - Performance & Ctrl Ctr in Rochester, New York

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from:

$185,000 - $205,000 (Rochester, NY; Binghamton, NY; Portland, ME; Augusta, ME)

$203,000 - $226,000 (Orange, CT)

JOB SUMMARY:

Define strategy, standards, and work procedure for all Energy Control Centers Operations to guarantee the safety of people and facilities while maximizing the quality of supply. Guarantee alignment of processes and practices among the various operational companies. Ensure that best practices are shared and implemented across the board. Deliver a safe and reliable network, top-tier customer satisfaction while maximizing efficiencies, with an emphasis on innovation and the adoption of global best practices in the deployment of new technologies in order to transform the networks and customer experience. Control Center procedures definition and coordination, philosophy of restoration, safety of restoration, restoration reports and performance management of ECC's. Define long term strategy for operational processes and applications, determine roadmap and implement strategic and transformational projects with direct impact to real time operation.

Consolidation of electric operational performance: reports reliability KPIs for all OpCos, collects and monitors electric data, produces relevant analysis to drive better operational decisions by the OpCos, provides performance input to system planning. Supports field operations on identifying operational risks and opportunities and on creating action plans to improve operational performance. Provides data support to MROs and field operations in general. Accountable for the further development of the company's data retention for operational performance and historic reporting capabilities, data mining capabilities, to complete complex analysis and reporting. Report operational data and analysis to regulators as necessary.

MAJOR ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Lead the definition of strategic roadmap for real time processes and platforms, with direct impact to the core and most important process of the utility which is to deliver safe and reliable service to customers.
  • Define roadmap for implementation of process improvements and application/systems and other multi million dollars projects implementation.
  • Implement multi-million dollar projects related to real time applications/systems to support the control centers.
  • Accountable to monitoring the operational performance of each OpCo.
  • Reliability tracking and consolidation, daily, monthly, and annually.
  • Reliability approach with Regulatory departments and Planning.
  • Data analysis to operation and investment planning as well as support to regulatory strategies.
  • Storm reports and restoration KPI's.
  • Monitoring performance of each ECC.
  • Analysis of data to support process improvements and sharing of best practices. among OpCos and divisions.
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation and procedures.
  • Participates in global and local projects.
  • Guarantee the coordination of the Control Centers with the rest of the units, in order to ensure efficiency of the work carried out in the network.
  • Participate and collaborate in the update of the emergency response procedures, promoting the continuous improvement and training of all units involved, including the periodic simulations of recovery scenarios.
  • Participate in the Emergency Operations plans of each state, supporting the Area Commander role as required.
  • Support the deployment of network automation and smart network devices.
  • Assist in the development and execution of operating procedures to safely and effectively operate the electric system remotely and or automatically.
  • Ensure in-depth understanding to effectively oversee and lead the real time compliance of Federal regulations (NERC and FERC including carrying out training and system operations during normal day and in emergency situations.
  • Support internal and external auditing activities.
  • Review state and federal legislative bills and proposed regulations to evaluate the impact to the company.
  • Develop company policies and practices, upon interpretation of state and federal bills and regulations.
  • Participate in company's legislative and regulatory activities and be able to write and present testimony as and when required.
  • Coordinate the monitoring and improvement of customer service in the processes related to the operation, supervising the work of the Control Centers and the meetings with the Operations / Regions representatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required Education:
  • BS/BA Degree in Electrical engineering and 10+ years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience/Training:
  • Experience in procedures and processes of Electric Operation, and turnaround/ efficiency/ transformation projects implementation.
  • Ability to have in-depth interface with external consultants and a variety of internal functional groups.
