Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Departments of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and Orthopaedics, and the Musculoskeletal Service Line are seeking an internal medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine-pediatric medicine trained physician with a particular interest in presurgical optimization and perioperative medical management to join and help expand the established state-of-the-art perioperative optimization clinic, the Center for Perioperative Medicine (CPM). The person hired will help to oversee the creation and operations of a novel extension to the established CPM. This extension is tentatively called the CPM-SHIFT Clinic (Surgical Home – Internal Medicine Fast Trac Clinic).

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated, collaborative, and creative physician who will be focused on offering defined optimization primary care services to patients that have been selected to undergo outpatient musculoskeletal surgery including the new state-of-the-art Ambulatory Orthopedic Center at Marketplace, as well as our tertiary and community hospitals. The ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary leadership is a requirement.

A successful candidate will collaborate with CPM and Ambulatory/Perioperative Services, primary care physicians and providers in the community, and the faculty of anesthesiology and orthopedics.

The mission of this role is to continue to expand our currently successful perioperative optimization clinic. The specific goals are:

a) ensure appropriate and comprehensive multidisciplinary perioperative optimization for musculoskeletal patients

b) using this guidance, support the perioperative teams in determining the ideal timing for surgery

c) to provide bridge care in the postoperative period

d) transition care from the surgical home back to the PCP as medically appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should be board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Medicine-Pediatrics, possess an M.D. degree or equivalent, and possess the credentials to obtain an unrestricted NYS Medical license and DEA. Excellent leadership skills, strong communication skills, and a desire to work with a large multidisciplinary team of people.

Committed to professional collaboration with primary care providers and physicians

Interest in identifying and managing unrecognized comorbidities in the perioperative surgical patient.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $380,466 - $463,000 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
