Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Rochester, New York
Description
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Accurately input employee payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments into payroll systems.
Process payroll in accordance with company standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Ensure on-time submission and approval of payroll entries to meet scheduled deadlines.
Compliance and Accuracy:
Verify data integrity and maintain compliance with wage laws, tax reporting, and benefits regulations.
Reconcile payroll discrepancies and ensure correction of errors promptly and accurately.
Assist in preparing reports, such as tax filings (e.g., W-2s, 1099s) and other required documentation.
Employee Support:
Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, and tax withholdings with professionalism and confidentiality.
Provide guidance on payroll policies and procedures.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain up-to-date payroll records and documentation.
Assist with audits and reconciliation requests related to payroll and deductions.
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of experience in payroll administration.
Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Paylocity) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Understanding of federal and state payroll regulations, tax calculations, and wage garnishments.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll information.
